Well the storm has us all snowed in. The day before the big event I signed Madeline and Carson up to compete down in Aiken at Sporting days in March but not sure how training is going to work out for the next 3 weeks. Lots of work in the snow should help condition both of them. I am debating on riding in the combined training event with my boarders horse Ben. I think I just might wait till April to do my first event at Plantation. There is not much to report other than we have a lot of snow!! Till later.

Feb. 6, 2008

Well the snow has begun to fall, more like the blizzard has begun! Madeline did some flat work on Carson before the weather got to bad. She is more determined than ever to do well in school and to ride well now that she is going recognized. We are hoping that her first event will be Sporting days farm the weekend of March 5-7. It gives me 1 month to get everything ready to take the trip down but at least this time I will have company in the truck with me. I am more excited for Madeline to compete than I was for myself. Our biggest issue will be "can I get the funds together to get her entered to go down?" Luckily I have some good eventing friends who have offered to help us out with stabling and accomadations for ourselves. Sally Lofting has offered a few stalls at her place and my good friend Joe from "Bit of Britain" is helping us find a place to stay.
The goal is for Madeline to compete in at least one event a month to get her qualified for the AEC's. I would love to try and get qualified if I can get my mare ready by the summer.
So riding this week is going to be a little difficult with the forcast of 24 inches of snow or possibly more. Hopefully Madeline can trot across the street to our good friends at Greenfields equestrian center to use their indoor to get some riding in.
